SEO Alerts The alert tells you whether it is something to worry about.

searchVIU weights every alert by affected pages and clicks. That way you can see at a glance what to tackle first.

What an alert contains

Every alert contains everything you need to assess it.

Every alert shows the severity, the affected pages and their share of URLs and clicks. You also see what has changed. If an error affects the same pages in several checks, it appears as one line in the alert.

    Impact over noise

New errors trigger an email, and known ones are listed in the report.

searchVIU compares every finding with earlier crawls. Anything that was already there collects in the report and stays visible there. The email contains what is new.

Needs attentionNew errors with a noticeable impact on pages or clicks. Only this group triggers the email.
Minor changesNew findings with little impact. They are included in the email but do not trigger it.
Held backErrors that already appeared in earlier crawls. You find them collected in the report.

In one customer project, only a few genuinely new problems remained from many raw findings after the comparison with earlier crawls.

    Four monitors

Each monitor has its own rhythm.

Four monitors check your website, each at its own pace. searchVIU reports a state once, when it changes.

    Second check with Page Watch

Page Watch checks twice before the alert arrives.

With Page Watch, searchVIU fetches every change a second time before an alert is created. Signals that fluctuate by nature, such as HTML size or console errors, only go into the log.

      Severity levels

      The severity follows the impact.

searchVIU uses two scales. The crawl and Page Watch rate by impact as High, Medium or Low. For robots.txt and XML sitemaps, the level depends on the event and is called Critical, Warning or Info.

      Crawl and Page Watch

The level depends on the share of URLs and clicks an error affects. The higher of the two values decides. The same check can therefore come out low one time and high another.

      HighMediumLow

      robots.txt and XML sitemaps

The level depends on the event. Blocking the whole website is critical, while a bot that is allowed again is only an info.

      Alert list

Every alert is listed publicly, with an example.

The alert list shows which alerts exist, what triggers them and how often searchVIU checks. Here are five examples from it.

      Frequently asked questions

      How often does searchVIU check?

The robots.txt every 15 minutes, the XML sitemaps daily, your most important pages continuously throughout the day and the whole website with the full crawl every week.

What happens to errors we already know about?

They do not trigger a new email and are collected in the report. If an error appears again on a page that previously passed the check, searchVIU reports it again.

What if we cannot assess an alert?

The alert shows the severity, affected pages and clicks. To help you assess it, SEO Monitoring includes data consulting: 30 minutes a month, and from 250,000 URLs one hour with a senior consultant.

Do the alerts also arrive in Slack or Teams?

Yes. Besides email, alerts go to Slack or Teams, or via webhook into your own systems.

How much do the alerts cost?

Alerts are included in SEO Monitoring, from €399 per month with 50,000 URLs included. You can find all prices on the pricing page.
