Three questions every relaunch raises

Many problems show up on go-live day, some only weeks later. With searchVIU you know the key answers beforehand.

Which pages must we not lose under any circumstances? The pre-analysis shows which pages and categories bring in the clicks.
Which URLs had SEO content before and no longer do?The comparison with the DEV site puts the old and new website side by side.
Where do we redirect the old URLs?Redirect mapping suggests a new URL for every old one.
Process

The process runs from the first crawl to weeks after go-live.

Every step works with your pages' clicks from Search Console. That way you deal first with the pages that bring traffic.

Know what matters before you rebuild

Before the relaunch, searchVIU shows which categories and pages bring the clicks. You know exactly what must not get lost in the rebuild.

Are today's keywords on the new website too?

searchVIU compares every URL on the live website with its target on the staging/dev site. Are the keywords the page is found for today still in the same places? Are content and internal links still there? Every difference is weighted by the clicks of the old page.

searchVIU also counts the pages per page type. If product pages suddenly go missing on the dev site, you see it before go-live. Without a test environment, searchVIU freezes a crawl before the switch and compares every later crawl with it.

A suggestion for every old URL

searchVIU compares the content of old and new pages and suggests matching redirects. Priority comes from clicks, impressions and internal links. You export the finished plan as CSV or directly for Apache and nginx.

        Go-live

The relaunch is live and monitoring keeps running.

After go-live, searchVIU crawls the new website with the same settings and page types as in the dev phase and reports what is missing. Many problems only appear weeks later. That's why searchVIU compares every crawl with the state before the switch.

            Common questions about website migrations

Screaming Frog can check redirects too. What does searchVIU do differently?

For a single check, that's true. searchVIU also compares every old URL with its target on the DEV site, meaning keywords, content and internal links, weighted by clicks. Pre-analysis, mapping and monitoring after go-live all run in the same project.

            When should we start?

The earlier, the better. Ideally with the pre-analysis, at the latest once there is a DEV site. The Migration Pack has a one-off price, even if the project takes longer than planned.

            Our test environment is protected.

searchVIU crawls it anyway, with a login, basic auth, a custom header or by allowlisting our fixed IP. We set up access according to your requirements.

Does this also work for a domain change?

Yes. searchVIU crawls the new domain on the test environment and after go-live, and matches every URL against the old domain. On the old domain, searchVIU checks whether the redirects point to the right new URLs.

What does a relaunch with searchVIU cost?

The Migration Pack is an add-on to SEO Monitoring, from €1,999 one-off. If the migration takes longer than planned, there is no monthly surcharge. SEO Monitoring starts at €399 per month. You can find all prices on the pricing page.

            We only need this once.

The Migration Pack is a one-off. It runs together with monitoring, because many errors only show up weeks after go-live. Monitoring can be canceled monthly, with 30 days' notice to the end of the billing month.
