Staging Monitoring · Pilot

Every release starts on staging, and soon so will the monitoring.

With Staging Monitoring, searchVIU crawls your staging environment and sends an alert for SEO errors. We are looking for the first teams for the pilot phase.

Typical errors

The error was already on staging.

New releases go through the staging or test environment first. What goes wrong there often only shows up after go-live, when Google is already fetching the pages.

noindex from stagingThe block on the test environment goes live with the release.
Canonical pointing to the wrong domainCanonicals or hreflang point to the staging address.
Blocked botsA robots.txt rule from the test phase locks out Googlebot or AI bots.

How the add-on is planned

searchVIU checks the staging environment before go-live.

searchVIU crawls the staging environment and checks it for SEO errors. Each check assesses staging on its own, without comparing it with the live site. Staging often lacks product data or content, and such a comparison would trigger many false alarms.

What already works today

For relaunches, searchVIU already crawls your DEV environment today.

For relaunches and migrations, searchVIU crawls the DEV or staging environment and compares it URL by URL with the live site. Staging Monitoring uses the same crawler for ongoing releases.

Frequently asked questions about Staging Monitoring

    Is Staging Monitoring available yet?
The add-on is in its pilot phase. We will release it to all customers once the pilot phase is complete. The DEV crawl for relaunches is available today.
How much does Staging Monitoring cost?
Staging Monitoring is an add-on to SEO Monitoring, from €99 per month. We will work out the details together during the pilot phase. You can find all prices on the pricing page.
Our staging environment is protected. Can the crawler get in?
Yes. searchVIU already crawls test environments today via Basic Auth, with a bypass header or by allowlisting our fixed IP. We set up access according to your requirements.
Will this get our staging environment indexed?
No. searchVIU only fetches the pages. You do not need to loosen the protection of your environment for this. For the crawl, searchVIU can ignore robots.txt and noindex.
How is this different from the DEV crawl for relaunches?
For a relaunch, searchVIU compares the new website URL by URL with the old one. Staging Monitoring accompanies ongoing releases and checks staging on its own.
