searchVIU reports when a sitemap changes its status or can no longer be fetched. You also get an alert when the number of URLs falls significantly or attributes such as lastmod and hreflang are missing from many entries.
If a sitemap grows or the file gets bigger, there is deliberately no alert. If a sitemap reappears, the report shows it.

No. searchVIU finds the sitemaps of your domain automatically. If one is missing, you can add it.
Our sitemap keeps growing. Will that mean lots of emails?
No. searchVIU deliberately does not report growth or file size. You get an alert when URLs go missing, attributes are missing or a sitemap can no longer be reached.
Which sitemap types are checked?
Sitemap index, standard sitemaps and news, image and video sitemaps, plus RSS, Atom and text sitemaps. searchVIU unpacks compressed sitemaps (gzip) itself.
