A new shop system brings thousands of new URLs

In a shop migration, product, category and image URLs often all change at once. Before the go-live, three questions need answers.

Which categories and products bring in the clicks today? The pre-analysis shows you, with the clicks from the last 30 days in Search Console.
Are pages or content missing in the new shop? The before-and-after comparison checks every URL against its target in the new shop.
Where should the old URLs redirect to?Redirect mapping suggests a target for every old URL.
Process

Before, during and after the move, everything runs in one project

This is how it typically works when a shop moves to Shopware, for example. Every step works with the clicks from Search Console.

Before
  1. Pre-analysiscategories and products by clicks
  2. Crawl of the new shopeven behind password protection
Change-over
  1. Redirect mappingsuggestions for every old URL, export for server or agency
Go-liveAfter
  1. Crawl of the live shopwith the same settings as in the DEV phase
  2. SEO monitoringfull crawl every week, Page Watch continuously

Before-and-after comparison

searchVIU checks every product page in the new shop

searchVIU compares every URL of the old shop with its target page in the new shop. Are the keywords the page is found for today still in the same places? Are the content and internal links still there? Every deviation is weighted by the clicks of the old page.

searchVIU also counts the pages per page type. If product or category pages are missing in the new shop, you will see it before the go-live.

    After the go-live

Once the new shop is live, searchVIU keeps checking

After the go-live, searchVIU crawls the new shop with the same settings as in the DEV phase. If a redirect does not work, the old URL shows up as an error page. Monitoring then continues, with the full crawl every week and the sitemaps every day.

Frequently asked questions about shop migration

Does this work with Shopware, Shopify or other shop systems?
searchVIU crawls every shop like a browser, so the shop system makes no difference. You export the redirect plan as CSV or directly for Apache and nginx.
Our shop agency implements the redirects.
That fits well. searchVIU gives the agency the plan as an export and checks after the go-live whether every redirect works.
The new shop is still password-protected.
searchVIU crawls it anyway, via Basic Auth, with a custom header or by allowlisting our fixed IP. We set up access according to your requirements.
    When should we start?
The earlier, the better. Ideally with the pre-analysis, at the latest as soon as the new shop runs on a test environment. The Migration Pack has a one-off price, even if the move takes longer than planned.
How much does a shop migration with searchVIU cost?
The Migration Pack is an add-on to SEO Monitoring, from €1,999 one-off. If the move takes longer than planned, there is no monthly surcharge. SEO Monitoring is available from €399 per month. You can find all prices on the pricing page.
We are planning a relaunch without a new shop system.
The process is the same, from the comparison to monitoring after the go-live. Securing a relaunch All use cases
